Introduction to Robotics

Eng. Ragy Samy, a 4th year Power Department student, gave a brief introduction about robotics, starting with its definition, saying that “Robotics is the branch of technology that deals with the design construction operation, structural disposition, manufacture and application of robots.” He then he gave a brief overview about the history of robots and the etymology of the word “Robot”. Moving to their applications, he mentioned that robots have various applications, some of which are Domestic, Industrial and Military.
And finally, when discussing “What do we think about the future of robots?” some opinions mentioned that Robots will be able to do complex surgeries.

Eng. Rukia Wada’t, A Telecommunication Department graduate of the year 2011 and Ex- IEEEAlexSB Secretary, talked about “What IEEE actually is”, the history of the institution, and then went into details about what IEEEAlexSB does and what it offers to its members.

There are many points to make anyone choose computer department like: their love for technology and the fact that they face challenges every day and everywhere.
“Who is a candidate to enter the department?” anyone who is a hard worker, loves self study and is a self motivator. He should be organized, and have the ability to work under pressure.
Some may ask, “Are they aliens?” Our answer is: “We may be geeks but we always have a social life.”
And finally, he talked about “What do the students studies?” mentioning programming, operating systems, hardware, algorithms and problem solving among others.

Mind mapping & memory training session

Speaker:  Mr. Haitham Abd El-Aziz

 

Mr. Haitham Abd El-Aziz started to introduce himself and then he started talking about how to change your maximum limit. Anyone could change him / herself by changing his/her maximum limit.

Then, he talked about the level of our references. He said that the secret to break the impossible which you determined with your ceiling. He said that we utilized 10% of our mental abilities, and athletes utilized 28% of their muscular physical abilities.

And finally he ended his talk by telling us change your reference point and challenge your-self.

Eng. Yahya Hussein started by introducing himself, and he began to introduce the IEEE and AlexSB. He said that IEEE had a dual complementary regional.
Then he gave a brief about benefit of being a member, and IEEE AlexSB branch activities.
And finally he ended his talk by asking us a question which was his main point: How to be a member?

IEEE Day

The IEEE Day was started by Opening our Booth at 12:00 Pm, Ahmed Kassem was the responsible one for the booth.
The Day contained many games like Human Maze & Human X-O which were in front of Electrical Engineering Building, and Human Chess which were in front of the Mechanical Engineering Building, they were interesting games.
Also, there was The X-Box which was in the EE Building hall, and lots of students enjoyed playing it.



Finally, The Research Session started at 2:00 PM in M1, the speaker Dr. Ahmed El-Mahdy started to talk about the importance of research
Then we played a game to help us to think in different ways   “Think outside the box “
Also he talked about the critical reading, and talked about the role of a research article and article organization
And finally he finished the session by giving a brief about technical word processing.

 

ROV Competition Orientation Session

The session started at 04.00 pm. About 45 attended the session. The instructor, Eng.Karim started the session by giving an introduction about MATE and ROV, and talked about the market need for ROV engineers and that's why MATE came to Egypt, in Egypt there are only 90 ROV engineers.

 

Moreover, he said that ROV helped in solving the Mexico bay oil spill problem and that there are still some technologies problems that are facing ROV like communications.

 

Finally, he talked about Egypt ROV competition main points and how MATE would help undergraduate teams.

The session ended at 05.45 pm.
