IEEE AlexSB Projects’ Fair

Unfortunately, our studies are theoretically based without any link to practical life applications. Have you ever thought about trying some practical work? What about examining projects made by students not TAs or Doctors?

The Projects’ Fair is one of the annual events organized by IEEE Alexandria student branch. It is an annual fair for the projects made by the attendees of IEEE AlexSB courses and study groups. The fair includes electronics projects that were done in the Electronics, AVR Courses, and the Micro-controller Study groups.

This year, IEEE AlexSB has decided to widen the scope of the project fair to include projects from different departments, including but not restricted to: Electronics and Communications, Power, Computer and Mechanical Departments. Also participants from all levels and all academic years are welcomed.

In this fair, students and doctors are invited to examine these projects and ask the students who made it in anything concerned. It is interesting to see projects made by students by their own choice not obligatory in their academic studies. This will encourage other students to give it a try.

In the last projects’ fair organized by IEEE AlexSb, there were ten teams presenting their projects along with three doctors judging their work. All students -either participated or attended- gained knowledge and experience that will help them later on.

My IEEE AlexSB!

"ITW? What a strange name for an event! They couldn't have found a better name for it? What does it mean anyway?!"

These questions where floating in my head 3 years ago, when I first heard of ITW'09. And of course, the curious person that I am would never let it go! And so I thought "Registration time!"

3 days in the beginning of July was all what it took for me to realize that "Wow! Those people are dead serious!"

Beside the technical, the personal and the professional experience that seemed to be what the event is all about, one thing was for sure, I wanted to be one of "THEM".

I missed the deadline, Crap!

And here I'm once again sitting at the Great Hall at the BA attending ITW'10 and then the ex. Chairman, Amr Essam, said: "For those who want to apply as a volunteer please fill the spreadsheet at the shown link"

That was my lucky day!

An application, and an interview later, I'm now a member of the community I always dreamed to be a part of, My IEEE AlexSB…

Interact with Today's World

In ITW'09 I was a normal attendee. I was very excited as the sessions were amazing specially the session of Dr. Sanad and Mr.Mohamed Hamed. The organizers were so professional, helpful, and organized. I was encouraged by this event to be a volunteer in IEEE Alex SB.

In interact'10 I was a guide (inside the hall) in fact it is an exhausting task and I think after the event the attendees wanted to kill me because of the famous guidance phrase "name tag please " but for me I really loved this task and in this event I felt that I am not only AlexSB volunteer but I am also a part of AlexSB family.

ITW... A life changing experience
Author: nesma_ashraf_11 on: 19-03-2011 21:33pm

It all began three years ago, when I attended my first ITW, ITW’09. A whole new world to me, I attended it as a volunteer and attendee, I was an inside-hole organizer. I don’t remember many details about this year; all I remember is that neither my life nor the way I think goes the way it was before…

I got to know myself better through peoples’ eyes, I got to overcome my weakness points, to enhance my strength points, I got to face my worst nightmares and make them my best dreams, I got to know that people can have different characters and we all have to respect each other although we may not deal with things same way.

The year after, ITW’10

I enjoyed it very much, I enjoyed being there with my 2nd family between my dearest friends, and I’ve liked the fact that we were having fun while we were doing something beneficial to many people.

And for ITW’11, I’m expecting much more things.

You’ll never know what it is like unless you’ve been part of this whole experience…

A Day in ITW
Author: angelforlove55@hotmail.com on: 19-03-2011 17:20pm

ITW'?09, I was just an attendee in such a great event. I enjoyed every session. The speakers were really more than excellent and the topics have been chosen very well.

This event encouraged me to become one of the volunteers in IEEE AlexSB. I wanted to join this great team in organizing these events.

Fortunately, last year I became a volunteer and worked the whole year but all of this was nothing compared to the ITW. I really enjoyed working in such an event.

ITW is the biggest event in our branch and for me it was an unforgettable event. It really had changed my whole world. I had that new great experience and I got to know all these amazing friends.

I worked in the catering team for VIPS in ITWâ??10. This gave me the chance to be in contact with speakers, sponsors and VIPS. They were really very nice. This gave me the courage to deal with anyone in a position of responsibility.

I also worked in registration for the attendees. This made me friendly with most of them and I encouraged some to be volunteers and they become one of us this year.

Such event, such people and such organization made my year exceptional.

ITW......Makes a difference
Author: shbander_91@yahoo.co.uk on: 18-03-2011 00:21am

When I heard about a huge event held by the IEEE in the B.A., I went to the desk and made a look at the schedule of the event and I found many sessions that I was interested in its topic, so I didn't hesitate to register and have a seat in ITW and I believed that it will be interesting and full of knowledge by any means.

The first day I went early to join such an event and I found the volunteers there happy and helpful, they are just trying to give all what they can. I feel the formality before I attended any session. I attended approximately all the sessions in the three days and of course they all changed my life and my "perspective" to it and also helped me to choose my career and also taught me how to face the problems that arose at any time.

Through the three days I found the volunteers whom I knew a number of them, some of them graduated and some of them are with us now, they were taking photos of the speakers and moving around the whole hall all the day and many other things, I just began to thought why they do such things, why didn't they stay at home and complete sleeping, we are in the summer vacation, why ?! I found that they are trying to improve the others not only them and I decided to join this society " IEEE AlexSB ".
